GOD CALLS

CALL TO WORSHIP

—from Matthew 11:28-29, NIV

LEADER:

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me;

for I am gentle and humble in heart,

and you will find rest for your souls.

ALL:

Praise the Lord!

SONG - PRAISE TO THE LORD THE ALMIGHTY

(© 2004 Word Music, LLC, Rocketown Music, LLC., and Sweater Weather Music. CCLI # 4345378)

Praise to the Lord

The Almighty the King of creation

O my soul praise Him

For He is thy health and salvation

All ye who hear

Now to His temple draw near

Praise Him in glad adoration

Praise to the Lord

Above all things so wondrously reigning

Sheltering thee under His wings

and so gently sustaining

Have you not seen

All that is needful have been

Sent by His gracious ordaining

Praise to the Lord

Who will prosper thy work and defend thee

Surely His goodness and mercy

Shall daily attend thee

Ponder anew

What the Almighty can do

If with His love He befriend thee

Praise to the Lord

O let all that is in me adore Him

All that has life and breath

Come now with praises before Him

Let the Amen sound from His people again

Gladly forever adore Him

SONG - ALL WHO ARE THIRSTY

(© 1998 Vineyard Songs (UK/Eire). CCLI # 2489542)

All who are thirsty

All who are weak

Come to the fountain

Dip your heart in the stream of life

Let the pain and the sorrow

Be washed away

In the waves of His mercy

As deep cries out to deep

We sing

Come Lord Jesus come

Come Lord Jesus come

Holy Spirit come

Holy Spirit come

SONG - STILL

(© 2002 Hillsong Publishing. CCLI # 3940963.)

Hide me now

Under Your wings

Cover me

Within Your mighty hand

When the oceans rise

And thunders roar

I will soar with You

Above the storm

Father You are King

Over the flood

I will be still and know

You are God

Find rest my soul

In Christ alone

Know His power

In quietness and trust

GOD CLEANSES

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

LEADER:

Almighty and merciful God,

we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.

We have followed too much

the devices and desires of our own hearts.

We have offended against your holy laws.

We have left undone those things which we ought to have done;

and we have done those things which we ought not to have done.

ALL:

O Lord, have mercy upon us.

Spare those who confess their faults.

Restore those who are penitent,

according to your promises declared to the world

in Christ Jesus, our Lord.

And grant, O merciful God, for his sake,

that we may live a holy, just, and humble life

to the glory of your holy name.

Amen.

SILENT CONFESSION

WORDS OF ASSURANCE

—based on 1 Timothy 1:15, 17

LEADER:

Here are words you may trust,

words that merit full acceptance:

Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.

To all who confess their sins and resolve to lead a new life,

he says, “Your sins are forgiven.”

He also says, “Follow me.”

ALL:

Now to the one who rules all worlds,

immortal, invisible, the only God,

be honour and glory forever and ever. Thanks be to God.

SONG OF ASSURANCE - WASHED BY THE BLOOD

(© 2014 CityAlight Music. CCLI Song # 7007945)

Once a slave to the fear

And the darkness held within

All the weight of my sin my shame

By His grace purified in redeeming sacrifice

Living hope that won’t spoil or fade

I am washed by the blood of the Son on the cross

I am washed by the blood of the Lamb

All my guilt all my shame

Were His wounds and His pain

I am washed by the blood of the Lamb

Now we know who we are

Precious children called by God

Let us serve and exalt our King

With our heart and our mind

Freely offer up our lives

Run the race fix our gaze on Him

We are washed by the blood of the Son on the cross

We are washed by the blood of the Lamb

All our guilt all our shame

Were His wounds and His pain

We are washed by the blood of the Lamb

We will rise as He rose

For the grave no longer holds

Ev'ry tear will be wiped away

And the saints will be heard

Praising God forevermore

Face to face with the One who saves

OFFERING

GOD COMMUNES

SCRIPTURE READING

Matthew 8: 18-23

18 When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other side of the lake. 19 Then a teacher of the law came to him and said, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”

20 Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head. 21 Another disciple said to him, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.” 22 But Jesus told him, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”

23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him.

SONG OF RESPONSE - GIVE ME JESUS

(© 2017 David Thomas LaChance/BMI, Sovereign Grace Praise/BMI. CCLI# 5495629.)

Take the world, but give me Jesus

All its joys are but a name

But His love abides forever

Through eternal years the same

Take the world, but give me Jesus

Sweetest comfort of my soul

With my Savior watching o’er me

I can sing though billows roll

Oh, the height and depth of mercy

Oh, the length and breadth of love

Oh, the fullness of redemption

Pledge of endless life above

Take this world, my God’s enough

Take the world, but give me Jesus

In His cross my trust shall be

Till with clearer, brighter vision

Face to face my Lord I see

Take this world and give me Jesus

In His cross my trust shall be

Take this world and give me Jesus

Till that day my Lord I see

COMMUNION

PRAYER FOR THOSE SEARCHING FOR TRUTH

Lord Jesus, you claim to be the way, the truth, and the life.  Grant that I might be undaunted by the cost of following you as I consider the reasons for doing so. If what you claim is true, please guide me, teach me, and open me to the reality of who you are.  Give me an understanding of you that is coherent, convincing and that leads to the life you promise.  Amen.

PRAYER OF BELIEF

Lord Jesus Christ, I admit that I am weaker and more sinful than I ever dared admit, but through you I am more loved and accepted than I ever dared hope.  I thank you for paying my debt on the cross, taking what I deserved in order to offer me complete forgiveness.  Knowing that you have been raised from the dead, I turn from my sins and receive you as my Saviour and Lord.  Amen.

GOD COMMISSIONS

BENEDICTION

—based on Hebrews 13:20-21, NIV

Now may the God of peace

equip you with everything good for doing his will,

and may he work in us what is pleasing to him,

through Jesus Christ,

to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
